Comfortable and close to Gare du Nord

Very satisfactory hotel. Somewhat close to metro station which ends up being your hub for a typical Parisien tourist trip. Small rooms and kind of hard to find if you're walking. The area gets a little shady at night, better head back before dark if you're uneasy about the 10 minute walk back from the metro at night on dimly lit side streets.

Nice hotel, the rooms are nicely decorated. It was clean, but I found the housekeeping a bit inconsistent. One day there were three towels, then the next day two, and they did not give extra toilet paper, I had to go and ask for some at the reception! Even though it's on a not so busy street, it was kind of noisy with the window open. But overall, for the price, it was not too bad.

Small hotel in very quiet street just off Rue Lafeyette. Easy access from the station (no: 42 bus two stops to Square Montholon) or short walk although we found the bus (using the Visite Paris card easiest). Hotel receiption very small and staff "ok". Lounge/tv room very nice. Breakfast room small but adequate and the breakfast was the usual buffet although we found the drinks to be lacking and purchased coffee elsewhere. Bedroom - I have left this to last - it was extremely basic - we had a triple room - which did have three beds and a wardrobe. The bathroom was more a shower room as the bath was incredibly small. The hotel is listed as having been completely renovated - yes, it has been painted in the room, but renovated "no". The sink in the bathroom was clean but was extremely marked and had "cuts" all over it. The tiling was again clean but looked very dirty. On our first morning we were woken very early by a very loud noise outside our room window (which looked into a deep courtyard - we were on the 4th floor). I spoke to the receiptionist who claimed she couldn't hear anything until she came up to our room - when it was obvious that she could. The noise did stop after her visit. Later in the day we found out it was the air conditioning unit for the breakfast room which they had turned off due to the noise it was making - therefore the breakfast room was quite stuffy. The stay was, for the money, ok - would we stay here again - unlikely. The plus side was that the hotel is really near for the bus stop and from there you can get to almost anywhere with the good connections on bus and metro.
