This hotel barely covers the basics for comfort and cleanliness. We spent 5 nights at this hotel and the air conditioning only worked on the last night--when the temperature (outdoors) dropped below 60 degrees (F). The bedding was clean, but the mattresses thin and hard. The carpet prohibited walking barefoot; it was filthy. The bathroom tile was loaded with mold. Ugh!
Unlike an earlier reviewer, we were satisfied with the breakfast, although we found the daily presentation of canned fruit cocktail an unusual choice. Other breakfast items included cereal, yogurt, boiled eggs, and small croissants. Breakfast wait staff was very pleasant and efficient.
The front desk staff ranged from a very cordial gentleman who checked us in, to an unpleasant man who was not at all helpful (refusing to reset the elevator breaker switch--which shut down with alarming frequency). It took my daughter three tries before he was able to transfer her call to our room, but he never passed on a message about the earlier inter-continental calls. Finally, when we were on the way to the airport to leave France, he called our driver and demanded that we pay for the "missing" contents of the mini-bar. It took repeated assertions that we had not consumed any of these items before he grudgingly hung up. He did not apologize for his rudeness.
I would recommend this hotel if you don't mind camp-like comfort. It is close to both subway and bus stops and there are a few bistros nearby that are adequate. If you are looking for a comfortable bed and a really clean bathroom, you might wish to look elsewhere.

I was very impressed with this hotel.
It was very clean. The maids were excellent, they cleaned the room and replaced the towels even though we didn't leave the room until 1pm on one day.
The hotel staff were friendly.
The room was basic but still nice. (Unfortunately they gave us a twin room instead of a double so make sure you get the right one before you check in). The only downside was the room was really hot the whole time despite it being pretty chilly outside, so I hate to imagine what it would be like in the summer!
The local area was nice and within very close walking distance to a few Metro stations and plenty of cafes and restaurants.
The breakfast was basic but very nice (cereal, fruit salad, yoghurt, croissants, pain au chocolats and bread rolls with Salami and Chees) and if you're in Paris on a budget you can fill up on breakfast before heading out and spending a small fortune on lunch!
Overall I was very pleased, recommended!
