Glasgow Monceau is an average hotel, giving you exactly what you expect but nothing more. It is basic with small rooms, but what more do you need when in Paris?
Having already read other reviews on this site, it lived exactly up to my expectations. On arrival, the dark narrow road on which the hotel is situated is not especially inviting, but going through the doors of the Glasgow it is obvious that it is a clean and friendly hotel.
The room we were in was basic with hardly enough room to swing a cat, and we wern't sure about the colour scheme either but it is important to point out that the hotel is due for refurbishment at the end of July 08.
The room was exceptionally clean as was the bathroom. The maid service was good aswell, our rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels etc. A TV is supplied in the room, with BBC World News the only English channel, not that we were in the room long enough to watch it.
I had read on previous reviews that the walls were paper thin and this is true, but it didnt really cause an issue with us.
Breakfast is served from 7.30am to 10.00am every morning and was very good really. There was a choice of cerials, yoghurts and pastries along with a selection of drinks, hot and cold. More than you usually get on the continent. The breakfast area was clean and the staff friendly enough, infact all staff encountered at the hotel were friendly and willing to help out were possible.
It is fair to say that the hotel is not centrally located. It is about 30 mins walk to the Arc de Triomphe or 5 mins by bus (the number 31) which is highly recommended. The journey only costs 1 euro 50 per person. The staff at the hotel can assist you at where to catch the bus. The Glasgow is around 35 mins drive from Charles de Gaulle airport and by taxi the journey costs 40 euros with an extra euro for each piece of luggage. The hotel provides a shuttle service to both of the airports in paris for 17 euros per person.
To eat out there are numerous restaurants within walking distance from the hotel, all of which serve good food and are well priced.
Overall the Glasgow Montreau is ideal if you want a clean hotel away from the hustle and bustle where you get a feel for the real paris. It serves well as a base to explore the wider city, but if you want to spend more time in a hotel then this is not for you.

Location:
The hotel is within 20 minutes walk to the arch of triumph and the champs elysees.
it's a 10 minutes walk to the closest metro station (villiers or wagram) which we didn't mind.
to go out at night it's a 5-10 minute walk to wagram street where it's much more lively with restaurants
Noise:
The hotel itself is located in a quiet spot. our room didn't face the street and we didn't hear the street, but we could hear every movement in the corridor outside the room.
Staff: friendly and advising. one receptionist marked all the spots, itineraries on our map the night we came.
Breakfast: basic. no salad/vegetables at all.
Besides that i agree and recommend the following reviews already posted which were helpful to us prior to our trip:
Gem5 (11/12/07):
we didn't have relocation problems during our 4 day stay.
on the other hand checkout was 1200 and we had to leave our bags for the whole day in front of the reception (not in a closed cupboard) which we didn't like but preferred to paying 50euros for a late checkout.
Kenny-the... (16/9/07)
truthfully... (4/9/07)
lesmacaron (25/8/07): no street noise from our back room.
