5You'd be hard-pressed to find a quality-price combination in Paris.
The Best Western Opera D'Antin is a very nice, small and quiet hotel in a district of Paris that's chaotically busy during the day. It's on the back side of Galeries Lafayette in the Opera-Grands Boulevards area.
The lobby is nicely decorated and pleasantly calm. It features a cool little bar and lounge area. The staff is very professional and efficient, and will crack a big smile when you ask for your room key in French. "Cinq cent cinq, s'il vous plait."
Rooms are small by North American standards, but quite a decent size for a moderate European hotel. They're nicely decorated, with minimalist modern furniture, modern digital temperature controls, a remote color TV with pay options, and modern phones. The bathrooms are decent-sized but awkwardly set up (you'll know what I mean the first time you take a seat on the porcelain princess). They also come with in-shower shampoo/soap dispensers.
The location is central and fantastic if you like to shop. It's behind Galeries Lafayette and a couple of blocks from Printemps, with numerous other department and smaller stores on the streets around it.
And it's a block or so from the Chausse D'Antin Lafayette metro station for quick access to the rest of the world's greatest city. It's also right next door to the Auber RER station (Not the line to CDG Airport). But the Roissybus to Charles D'Gaulle leaves from Rue Scribe next to the Opera, a 2 1/2-block walk away.
