TripTake Traveler Reviews
My friends and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights back in May of 2007 on a trip across Europe. The location is excellent, it is close to the metro and fairly accessible to all the tourist sites in Paris. We stayed at the top floor and paid just a little less than 200 US dollars a night. The shower however was a really weird, basically the glass covered only half of the bathtub, so you have to be careful that you do not get the floor wet. Also, we asked for a queen bed, but we got 2 twin beds put together, but setup anyway as twins (twin bed sheets, etc). So for romantic getaways, it didn't matter for us since the bed was so comfortable. My friends who stayed on the floor below us had a queen bed, but it sort of slanted, they felt upside down. Other than that, all our rooms were clean. We enjoyed our stay here and I will probably stay here again only if I get the top floor though (due to my friends' experience). The top floor, which appeared to be a converted attic, is a little pricey than the lower floors. Also, we stayed here when the weather was cool in Paris, so I'm not sure about summer time. I certainly did not see an airconditioner. Happy Trip.

My wife and I recently returned for a one week stay in Paris. We chose this hotel primarily for the price. We knew nothing about the different neighborhoods except for comments in forums. We really lucked out on this place. It is a bit removed from the city center, but that is a good thing. After walking through the highly touristy Latin quarter and the junky part below Sacre Cour and the yucky Republique, we thanked God we did not get stuck in those parts. It is in nice middle class part of town, not too snooty and not scary. The room was very clean and VERY quiet. Everywhere in Paris was noisy, so after a long day of battling fellow tourists at the major sites it was a relief to come back to. I had very low expectations of the people after reading other comments. This was quite the contrary. The staff spoke fluent, and I mean fluent, english. They smiled and welcomed us and stated if we needed any help to just ask. Its true that the staff is not always at the front desk, yet they are always close by(they may be visting on the couch or downstairs) and when requested never were rude to come to the front desk. The only downside is that the rooms are small and there is only one english T.V channel(CNN) Some people say that one does not spend much time in their room, which is true. But after walking miles and miles all day and climbing flights and flights of stairs, we were back by 7p.m it would have been nice to watch a show in english to decompress. Another plus is its proximity to the Montparnasse train station. We took the Air France bus to get from the airport to the hotel. This will save you big bucks. It is a short 5 block walk to and from the bus stop. There is a full grocery store about a block away to stock up on food. Wine and cheese are very cheap there, so is the beer. A six pack is only 5euro, compared to 6euro, yes 6euro per beer at a cafe. The small fridge is plenty to hold a six pack, fruit and cheese. The coffee pot is actually only a pot to boil water. Coffee packets are provided to make it. Being coffee addicts, we brought a french press with a pound of Starbucks and used the pot to boil the water. After seeing some of the other hotels in the price range in the different neighborhoods this is the best. No, its not the Westin with people to wait on you hand and foot, yet is a great value.
