We stayed here for three nights in July, in order to catch the finish of the Tour De France. It's a busy weekend for Paris, but even bearing that in mind does not excuse the disinterested attitude of the reception staff, the two broken elevators, and the small shabby room we were given in this hotel ( we booked months in advance). Our room was surely among the worst in the hotel, situated at the top of the building adjacent to the glass elevator ( which worked once, as we arrived, and then gave up the ghost - given that we would have been constantly bothered by the sound of the lift machinery operating, we were, on balance, glad). The decor was shabby and tired (though the bed was reasonably comfortable) and even for Paris the room - just enough space to walk around the bed - was very cramped for a three-night stay. Location-wise it's brilliant, however, and we made the most of that. It's easy to walk from here to most parts of central Paris, and there are good places to eat all around ( the Italian restaurant directly opposite the hotel is good and friendly, but avoid the bar on the corner unless you want the 'full experience' of being insulted by a snotty Parisian proprietor). Breakfast was uninspiring, though the restaurant staff are much nicer than the native Parisians on reception. Paris has so many hotels in this district that there is no reason to return to this one.

I've stayed in the hotel during transportation strike in Paris. Sİnce the RER train was not working I asked concierge how to take my daughter to Disneyland in Paris. An inpolite man in the concierge told me that the only way was to take a private shuttle for going and coming back for 200 euros. When I hesitated because of the price he told that tthe same shuttle would also take us to the airport next day for 30 euros. Taking into consideration that there were very rare taxis because of the strike and would cost more than 30 euros because of the heavy traffic I accepted the offer. After taking us back to hotel from Dİsneyland ,the shuttle driver said that he would not go to airport because he was not told so by the concierge. I paid 200 euros and had to find a new way for going to the airport. This time the concierge again offered a private shuttle for 45 euros and told me that because of the strike the taxis were not taking reservations. The shuttle was not private, the driver was smelling alcohol etc. After coming home I learned that there were more cheaper ways of going to the Disneyland which were never mentioned by the concierge of Bergere Opera. The above story made me think whether the concierge people were taking commissions from shuttle services because it is very clear that they are not in concierge desk to help hotel guests.
