4We stayed here again in october 2007 for 3 nights. We have stayed here before in 2005 (see my review here from March 2005). The reason we returned to Hotel de Saint Germain is:
1) GREAT location
2) relatively low rate for a hotel in the 6th eme
In 2005 we stayed on the top floor, this time we were on the 3rd floor (rooms 34 & 35 - one double, one twin). 34 is the double and 35 is the twin which is a bit bigger. Both rooms are bigger than the Room 65 where we stayed last time. We also found the metro noise and vibration a bit less on the 3rd floor than the 6th floor. There is A/C in the rooms which is rare for 2* hotels in Paris.
The location of the hotel cannot be beat - especially on our trip this time during the Paris metro strike. We were able to walk to all the sights we wanted to visit: Marais, Notre Dame, Louvre, Musee l'Orangerie etc.
Breakfast is €10 and I'd suggest skipping it. It's not a buffet. There is a Paul Boulangerie not too far (corner of rue de Seine & rue de Buci) where you can get similar amount of food for €7.
