We didn't know what to expect and our first room was really small but very clean. Maid service was very good. We did have alot of noise as we were facing the street. Bring earplugs and you'll be okay. The location is very good. Lots of great shops nearby and within walking distance of many great neighbourhoods. The staff is friendly. The night staff is the friendlist I've ever encountered and that's rare! I wish I knew the name of the fellow on night duty when we checked out - this guy is the best! Some rooms are larger so if you're looking for more space consider upgrading. One room we were in did smell like cigarette smoke which I believe is permitted in this hotel. I'm not sure if they have non-smoking rooms. It's a good little hotel for the price.

I believe any good review should be prefaced with a little about the reviewer so as to gauge probable caution used in determining a choice of stay. That said, my wife and I are in our early 50's, upper middle-class professionals, frequent US travelers (first time Europe) with tastes ranging from Broadway to Wal-Mart... sushi to McDonalds. We're fun-loving but have little desire to abode with/near the rascals of the world just to save a $ (learned long ago that it's not worth your life). We're not puritans or prudes... just real people who can, at our age, buy our way out of steerage if warranted. That said, we love to find a metro area base camp whose "musts" are 1) safety, 2) cleanliness, 3) vicinity and 4) value, then trek all day and night. I am so very pleased to report that this hotel meets all those requirements AND MORE and is an easy walk/metro ride to everything! Having stayed in many nice properties while on business, this one holds its own and is quiet to boot. The hotel and rooms are small (compared to US... but plenty big enough) and clean. The Manager and staff were EXTREMELY personable (all in English), jovial, professional, attentive and courteous. The hotel door (single entrance) is locked late at night (just knock) as a precautionary measure, which I loved, however we never ONCE felt at ease walking around the entire Montmarte/Paris area... even Pigalle at midnight (touristy=safety). I was amazed. I was also really glad that we got out of the heart of Paris... Montmartre was SO much more alive and indicative of everyday French living. Folks this hotel, its personnel, its surrounding area and its value are a slam dunk/no brainer. Don't think twice.. just book it and relax.
