City Centre, Near Highway, Near Train Station, Near Subway, Near Exhibition Centre

In the hotel's immediate vicinity, you will find a very lively neighborhood. Bars, clubs, Internet cafés, Indian or Chinese restaurant, movie theaters...not a touristic area which allows you to get the feel of the real Paris!

At a 15 minute walk from the hotel, the Tour Montparnasse: a fine example of twentieth century architecture (209 metres). The 56th and 59th floors are open to the public. From the restaurant on the 56th floor or the terrace on the 59th floor, enjoy the superb views of Paris: the Tour Eiffel, the Arc-de-Triomphe, les Invalides....

We booked this hotel as part of a Eurostar package, hoping for something inexpensive and convenient as a sight-seeing base. Our spirits sank when we arrived after a tiring journey....the hotel entrance was dingy and dismal and the reception staff indifferent (luckily I speak French, as they have almost no English). The lift was tiny and decrepit-looking, so I took the stairs - all three flights of them! The room was absolutely tiny, we could barely fit our luggage in. The bathroom likewise was miniscule, though I must say it was clean, and the shower worked, a pleasant change from some Paris hotels! A real downer about this hotel is the noise at night - after a few nights the constant door banging, shouting and noise from the street below became really dispiriting. The doors were such that they could not be closed without banging, and the walls were very thin. The beds were reasonable if basic, though definitely on the small side. I personally found the hotel very claustrophobic due to the spiral staircase, tiny rooms and complete lack of a lounge, garden or any sort of a communal area other than the reception area, which was very small and usually taken up by a group of men (there were only two chairs, and no privacy at all). The staff varied; one receptionist was quite likeable and helpful, although whenever we asked about changing rooms it was always 'the wrong time'!, whereas others could not have cared less and did not even look up when addressed. I will be returning to Paris, but not to the Hotel Jardins de Paris Montparnasse if I can help it!
