Normandy Hotel - Paris, France

My friend & I, two 'senior' ladies from the west coast of America, recently stayed at the Hotel Normandy. The location was ideal, close to many places we wished to see, our room was large and very comfortable with plenty of storage space, a nice clean bathroom and big fluffy towels.. The breakfast room was light & bright, with a plentiful buffet,the variety of food was great, bacon, sausage, fried potatoes, eggs....breads, croissants, pain au chocolat, toast, jam, cereals, fruit, yogurt, cold meats & cheeses, you name it, it was there....lots of coffee & juices. We don't speak french and were happy that the personel at reception and the concierge were very helpful and considerate, making it easy for us to locate places and get a taxi for our return to the airport. Hopefully, I will return to Paris and I will certainly stay there again.

The location of the hotel is a block away from the Louvre and makes it a good starting point to walk almost everywhere. The metro station is very close by if walking isn't your choice. We found the restaurant next door is staffed with very friendly wait staff, the food is great at affordable prices, and the service is outstanding. They'll even serve breakfast at noon for late sleepers. Our room was clean and comfortable. It's an old building, but we found it to be well maintained, and charming. The phone-booth sized elevators make it a challange if you have a lot of luggage, but the staff is quick to offer assistance. We would definitely return.

The room was very poor and not comfortable because room and facility are both deteriorated. For example the doors of lavatory, cloak and trunk room cannot be closed and destroyed. The room rate 160 was too much expensive. I do not want stay there again. Attention to VENERE, please check in advance what type of room is offered at this price.

The location of the hotel could not be better. Close to all that is beautiful in Paris and the Metro is a few blocks away. Don't expect anything luxurious about this hotel. It is old and although there appears to be some semblance of updating it is not a four star hotel by a long shot. Do put out the "do not disturb" on your door whenever you are in your room as staff thinks nothing of walking in without first knocking and waiting for a response although they were all very nice. There are the cleaning people and those that come later to spot check to see if the room has been cleaned. Plumbing is old, old, old; if you request a king or queen you will get two doulbe beds pushed together. You must ask for wash cloths as they were not part of our towel package. Let the front desk know that you expect messages right away if you are expecting calls from anyone. We didn't get a message until three hours after we were in our room and we missed a dinner appointment. Restaurants in the area are for the tourist; walk a few blocks away from where all of the tourists are and you will save a bundle of $ on your meals. If you choose to take the Metro (easy to use) make sure you have plenty of pocket change as there are no change machines and not all stations are manned by personel. If there is personel they usually will not take large bills. Loved the location but will stay elsewhere on my next trip.
