Best Western Marais Bastille - Paris, France     

I am always looking for a good hotel in or near the Marais in the $100 range. I have stayed at many over the years, most okay but not great. This year I tried this hotel because I got a great $85 a night rate on the hotel chain's website for a single. I could not have been happier. The hotel is easy to get to on the RER and metro from CDG. I asked for a room on a high floor and got room 64 on the top floor. Was the room large? No. Could more than one person fit in the shower? No. But who cares? This is Paris and I was only going to sleep and clean up in the room. What matters is that the room was spotlessly clean, the water was hot and pressure great, and the bed was comfy. As an added benefit I even had a small balcony from which I could see the Bastille monument and the top half of the Eiffel tower in the distance over the rooftops of Paris. My search for an affordable, nice hotel in the Marais has ended. I will stay here in the future.

We stayed for 2 nights at the beginning of april. The room was truly lovely and the bathroom as well, of much higher standard I would have expected from the lobby. Very clean and very professional attitude of the concierge until you did not get into trouble. I was stuck in the elevator and the concierge did not really sounded concerned or even apologized for that in any form. Same thing when our room was robbed. The manager did not even show up and nobody felt responsable, comprehensive or arranging. We were almost treated badly because we talk about the robbery at the desk in front of other guests!!! We were shocked and nobody cared. That I think is what counts. Not only a clean and pretty room! Friendliness at the desk when everything goes smooth is no so difficult to do. The truth shows up in situations of crises!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
