Merryl - Paris, France     

We spent four nights in this hotel two weeks ago. Having only read these reviews after we had booked a cheap Eurostar package, we were very concerned about the cleanliness of this hotel. On arrival we were relieved to find our room adequate & bedding clean. The room & bathroom were very shabby & needed a good paint & tidy up. On the first morning we discovered that all the hot water had been used by about 8am, so we both ended up with cold showers. Breakfast was very basic & we were allocated a croissant & a piece of bread each. We had to ask for a plate each. Another reviewer described the woman who presided over the breakfast room as a Rottweiler - that is so apt!!!!! - She stood guard over the food, orange juice & coffee as if it were her own & we were taking the food out of her children's mouths. In the end, the guests used to wait till she went out of the room & then grab another piece of bread. She also expected everyone to clear their tables, which we didn't mind, but a smile or a merci would have been nice. On the other hand the staff at the front desk were very pleasant & helpful. The hotel is not in a very nice area of Paris & we did have one incident when we were jostled & pushed by three young men. Luckily we were quite vocal & they retreated, but it wasn't a pleasant experience. There were very few pleasant restaurants near the hotel, but we did find a good little pizza parlour a couple of streets away. Over all, we made the best of a bad deal & had quite a nice break in Paris, but this was despite the hotel NOT because of it. We really wouldn't advise anyone to book this hotel, despite it being cheap.

my partner and i stayed here for three nights in october.it was a dank damp smelly hovel.we had to change rooms to escape the smell.our city view was a factory entrance.the lift was built for one person and the rottweiller who patrolled the "dining room" at breakfast even had the audacity to ask us to clear our own tables. the local area so full of character outside was the side of a urine stained metro station.abandon hope all ye who enter.
