Criterion Hotel Perth - Perth, Australia 0 star hotel

Address: 560 Hay Street, Perth, 6000
Criterion Hotel Perth details:  The Criterion Hotel Perth is situated in the heart of the business district; it is just minutes walk to key commercial buildings, government offices and entertainment centres or you can hop onto the free CDB bus at the hotel's doorstep. If you are on vacation, city sightseeing can be leisurely done with the network of public transport or simply on foot. A large variety of exciting restaurants are within walking distance from the Criterion Hotel.

The Criterion Hotel has the best of both worlds - the old and the new. The art-deco facade and some parts of its interior are being preserved as part of the Heritage Conservation effort to enhance the old style ambience of the area surrounding Hay Street. The rooms, lobby and its restaurants have been designed to incorporate the style of yester year yet achieving a modern day look through studied creative designing.
In contrast with the heritage grandeur of the building, the rooms reflect a fresh new concept in hotel room standards in Perth.

I saw this hotel advertised on the Jetstar website and called them to book a room for 2 adults and 3 children. When we arrived we were horrified by the room they had for us. It looked like a dirty harry flat with one queen size bed and one portacot. When I asked where my other two children were supposed to sleep we were told we could get some roll aways for the floor but there is no way they would fit. The room was tiny and it was so grotty we didn't want to let our children touch anything so they charged us $70 for looking at the room and we went to the medina apartments instead (which were fantastic). The staff were rude and this place was filthy. I don't know how they got a 3 star rating.

This hotel is very tired and in need of an upgrade but whilst disappointed one cannot knock the price, considering it is an inner city hotel in a great location. The room and bed was comfortable enough for the price but it goes without saying that I will not stay there again. My recommendation is to spend a few dollars more and stay in a bit more luxury.
