Hotel Tiel - Tiel, Netherlands     

The good part is that it was clean, the beds were comfortable and everything in the bathroom worked. However ... The rooms were poorly lit - had to tilt my book towards the light in order to see to read it. The bathrooms had originally been tiled in pink (!), but they have at some time been painted over in white. No doubt when it was done it looked OK, but now the paint is chipping off everywhere and it looks a mess. One of the waitresses in the restaurant was extremely rude to a member of our party who wanted to charge the meal to his room account. She said he couldn't. When he said he had no cash or credit cards on him she said, "You have to pay NOW - you can't leave this room until you have paid". And on the final night of our stay a waiter managed to drop a bowl of soup over my jacket. Somewhere near my room there was an outside door that slammed so hard when anyone went through it that the floor of my room shook.
