Vila Petra - Albufeira, Portugal     

Albufeira, Vila Petra stayed from 26/06/08 - 30/06/08. Just come back from a four day trip to the Vila Petra, me and 11 of my friends went for my hen party. Don't let this put you off, there wasn't lots of groups of rowdy people, we were the only ones..... it was mainly families that were at the hotel. The hotel is a few minutes walk from the main 'strip' which is why we chose it, it's just far away so you don't hear the music at night but close enough to walk home at the end of the night....... The Hotel was superb, extremely clean and very well maintained. The rooms are excellent and spacious with all the facilities you would need for self catering. Although we didn't eat in the hotel restaurant the poolside snack bar was very good. The swimming pool is great for spending those lazy days, but if you enjoy a lie in be warned, you will probably not get a sunbed... I would definately go back to the Vila Petra and would recommend it for couples, groups and families.

I returned to this hotel 10 years later after having a fantastic holiday as a kid... it is still as fantastic as I remember. It is close enough to the main strip to be within easy walking distance, but far enough away that if you want peace and quiet at night you can relax away from it all. The hotel has good evening entertainment. It is a very well presented hotel, with very big rooms, but normal standard. The only bad side is it has gone down hill people wise, there was a guy wondering around one night who was clearly very high on drugs and stumbling around, but apart from that is was ok. One word of warning is costs out there are very expensive, I would say almost if not more expensive than the UK due to the Euro. If you do visit, you must pay a trip to Vilamoura and go to Cais restaurant on the front, the food is fantastic!! Especially the Cataplana! Also, for Lunch the little restaurant on the corner of the front, near Cais. Overall, it is a fantastic holiday place.
