Dom Pedro Meia Praia Beach Club - Lagos, Portugal     

We booked into this place the morning of. It was off season and it was well worth the 28 euros per night. The place is OK for a few days with nice beach location. The furniture needs to be replaced. It is a bit worn and quite uncomfortable. Add some new curtains and bed covers and this would be more like a 3 star. Hot water runs out pretty fast. This would be a good spot for families or spring break types. I know our son decided to return with his friends the very next weekend! This place can be hard to find at night- look for the restaurant in front.

Stayed at Dom Pedro Meia Praia with my wife and two daughters, August 2-5, 2006. It was a surprise... Specially when Expedia call it a “Modern beachfront resort”... This place was old, dirty and the staff played as they didn’t know much about anything. Although the rooms where cleaned everyday, there’s no cleaning that can fix an old degraded place. From far away the hotel really looks modern. But what was modern in the seventies, and never had any improvements, it’s old now. The bathrooms smell musty and mildew and have no exhaust. The kitchenette cabinets where old and falling apart from years of use, and the stove was dirty from grease accumulation. While the rooms where cleaned everyday, the outside of the hotel was falling apart. Paint pealing, ceilings falling, dirty surroundings and I even found dog poop on the lawn around the pool. If you get a room over the dusty restaurant at the hotel, please ask to be moved (if you have a chance). Even after the restaurant is closed they let people hang around and make noise through the night. Also, there’s a dog living in that restaurant that never stops barking. If you are in the lower floors watchout for the people above you. People will throw anything from their balcony and will land on the bottom ones. (Check the attached pictures). Cigarette butts kept showing on my balcony, and we don’t smoke. Just stay away from this place. Do yourself a favor and spend a few more Euros... get a better place. Did I mention that you have to cross a dusty field and a dangerous train track before you get to the beach? ...and the wind keeps bringing dust clouds into the pool area? Dom Pedro was the highlight of my Portuguese vacation... NOT!
