Stayed 2 nights and whilst the bedrooms arent anything to wrtite home about this place well makes up for that in food, wine and great service. I travel wordwide and my expectations of good food combined with great service are sometimes hard to meet. The establishment was very busy for dinner both nights I was there however all appeared efficient. The wine list is great and I feel that I must give a great mention to a bar man named Jonathan, ask for him, this young chap is everything that scottish hospitality stands for, his personality, warm, professional and friendly service stands miles ahead of some top hotels I have stayed in. He can make a mean rusty nail! and knows all there is to know about the local area!!

We booked here because of location, easy to day trip into edinburgh and also because of recomendation. The hotel main building dated back to 1650 ish so the stone walls do hamper room size. However the hotel has character!! We arrived on sunday and stayed 3 nights and had excellent stay. Food and service were excellent and cost was within the range for this type of hotel. Malcolm the owner is excellent host and having taken over the hotel couple of years ago is in process of up grading. We stayed at Peebles Hydro for 3 nights before Kilspindie House and the food there wasnt anywhere as good as Ducks. So all in all good stay and excellent value.
