Arrived at the Kings hotel and found parking very easy. Staff at reception were nice and pleasant and no problems checking in. The lift up to my room was tiny and quite scary!! It's one of the old cage lifts (like a goods lift), where you have to pull the 2 doors closed and it judders and squeaks when moving.
My room was opposite the lift (unfortunate because every time someone got in and out of the lift and pulled the heavy doors open and closed I heard it all). The room itself was small but aquequate for my needs. I would imagine any couples staying here would be falling over each other as there's not a lot of space around the bedroom area.
Anyway, by that point I wasn't overly impressed but nothing particularly 'dreadful' about it all, that is until I tried to get some sleep. The noise outside was unbearable and even with the windows closed I could hear groups of 'drinkers' laughing and messing around. I could also hear what sounded like a constant parade of lorries driving past. None of which is the fault of the hotel but was VERY inconvenient when I had to drive 3 hours the next morning. At about 2am the noise outside died down and I thought I might get some sleep. How wrong I was, it turns out that the outside noise was drowning out the inside noise of the clanging pipes in my room. Needless to say I got about 2 hours sleep and woke up to the parade of lorries and someone opening the 'medieval' lift outside.
I'm not usually much of a complainer when I'm staying in a hotel for work purposes. I'm happy as long as it's clean and I can get a good nights sleep. The hotel is shabby (as per previous reviews) but that doesn't bother me when I'm on my own, as long as it's clean (which it was). The problem with this hotel is the noise. It's unbearable!

Stayed here for 2 nights. Booked a double room for £65 per night. The car park is small but we had no problem parking, the staff were helpful and curtious. The room was small and at the front on the busy main road outside which was so noisy it kept us awake. Opening the door hit the wardrobe and the bed was sooo uncomfortable with roll together - ached the next day. Breakfast was okay but greasy and limited choices as a vegetarian. Its location was good, but Lancaster is an awful city to visit and I wont be going back.
