Santana Beach Resort Casino & Spa - La Romana, Dominican Republic     

Have just returned from the Dr hav ing picked the gran bahia principe la romana as our top destination, What can I say? Hotel: beautiful, clean , ample grounds, large free form pool Staff: friendly, proffessional, though not all spoke english tried hard to communicate via sign language etc Enternainment: from our point of v iew..... excellent. during the day , aqua aerobics, bingo, spanish lessons, dance lessons including merengue, and salsa, yoga, scuba diving lessons in the pool, also crazy games with prizes... like shooting darts and misc, At night: from 7.00 pm live music from an excellent singer, with dancing ( the day tean consolidated your learning from earlier), kareoke, and a nightly show. The shows were lip synced but still good, Special mention for the micheal jacksonson concert, and lion king (i might be a little eens bit biased as m 2 yr old daughter was chosen to be baby sima on our second week! Also the lead entertainer at night his wife (3 months pregnant at the time and thier 10 yr old daughte]r, so hard working but always smiliing, and by day and night, francis, gustavo, and francesco were amazingly up beat and chilled despitr working 16 hr shifts each day. Night life. ; The resort is miles away from anything, so if your into clubbing etc its NOT for u. Live band after the show from 11 till 12, disco from 12 to 2, and an all night burger and drinks bar!!!! My husband, 2 yr old daughter, 9 month old son and I, absolutely loved our 2 week stay, Big love to Gillian and Ron the kid substitute grandparents. and also to Jacki, Chris and little Kennedy from georgia, why be carefull? our room was broken into via the balcony door, 500 dollars, 4 credit cards ( 2 of which were immediateley used to the value of 700 dollars) 1 watch , 1 mobile phone and one make up bag, Please please use the safe!!! there is a charge. also make sure your balcony door is still locked after maid service1 ours wasn't 2 days before we were robbed (draw your own conclusions!!!) p.s the name of our maid was idri or similar so beware. Regardeless we still had a wonderful holiday

We We just returned from our honeymoon. The hotel and grounds were beautiful. It's true the water is a little murky but nice and the beach is very picturesque. I would say that by US standards the rooms were a 3 star but most everything else is a 5. The food was good for a buffet and the restaurants were nice...especially the Italian one...highly recommend. Our biggest issue was that we speak English and at the time of our trip it seemed we were the only guests who spoke English and the only guests from the US. Because of this we spent most of the time just us and didn't really mingle or chat with any other visitors. Perfect for our honeymoon. Also we arrive in June and were told it was off season for them so there weren't many people at the resort probably no more than 100. We recommend taking the excursion to Catalina Island and visiting Altos de Chavron. Both Beautiful and great for pictures. Night life is almost none existent. This is definitely not a place for singles and although there were quite a few travelers with children I wouldn't recommend bringing children here. If you’re looking for a place that's clean and were you can talk and read and relax this is the place. Overall great vacation and comfortable and relaxing resort. .
