Inter-Hotel Carlton's Hotel details:
The INTER-HOTEL Carlton in Montmartre, in the heart of Paris, one of the most artistic and lively parts of the capital, welcomes you to a majestic building designed by Hausmann in the 1920's. Just a short walk to the Moulin Rouge, Sacre Coeur and the Plac
Arrived via CDG and Flybe, took the train to Gard Du Nord and Tube to Anvers (Pigale is equally close) approx 150 yds from either, road has a centre reservation so no issues with cases as the street is very, very busy! Hotel is currently going through major renovations, which did us a favour as we were instantly upgraded to a Deluxe room, which was extremely pink! No noise from builders heard during our stay and only notice building work when we pressed the wrong floor number in the lift one day. View from the roof terrace is one of the best in Paris, Eiffel Tower, Notre dame and Sacre Cour all clearly visible and at night the lights are stunning. Breakfast is adequate but not over the top, restaurant was quiet during our stay as hotel was only quarter full. Everywhere is accessible from Anvers and Pigale, red light area is only 150 yds away and the Moulin Rouge 200 yds away, sacre Cour is a ten minute walk. Our three day stay was very enjoyable, room was large, with an annexe for the third bed, flat screen TV with the obligatory CNN, the most annoying news channel in the world, beds were cumfy and the bathroom brand new. If you get the tube back to Gard Du Nord and then transfer to SCN to the airport there are no ticket machines between the gate and platform so we travelled back to the airport free! There is 24/7 supermarket 20 yds from the hotel door with very reasonable prices, worth visiting to stock up and save a few bob! Room with a view and an exchange rate top make your eyes water!. Our extended family used 4 rooms, and we stayed for 6 nights. What I love about this place, is that it is friendly, clean, comfortable and quiet. The location is great, as you are within 7 minutes walk to the lovely Sacre Cour and the HopOn-HopOff bus is 3 minutes walk, so you are really handy without playing those central city hotel rates. There is also a supermarket about 30 secs walk from the hotel, so if you want a quick and cheap meal in your room, pack some plastic plates and cultery (don't forget the wine bottle opener), and buy a salad and bottle of wine for next to nothing.. Hotel Carltons is a supurb hotel for the price. The rooms are fairly basic but clean and include everything you could want from a hotel room. The hotels staff were friendly and always willing to help, some didn't speak the best English but this did not effect their willingness. In terms of transport, there is a metro station not 5 minutes walk from the hotel and for any who have experienced the Paris metro before, it's by far the best way to get around. Also a must is the amazing view from the roof terrace, it needs to be seen to be believed! Other than that, for location, bars (head left out of the hotel doors and keep walking) and authentic Paris this hotel is a must for the price.. Read review
