This is a beautifully appointed hotel in an ideal location but for a 4star+ quality hotel, the Sofitel Baltimore has unfortunately been let down by lack of attention to detail. The housekeeping inspection could be better i.e. on arrival, the shaverpoint and electronic key required fixing and the TV reception (particularly CNN) was poor. One of the lamps in the bathroom did not work and although the toiletries were superb, the hotel's priorities are questionable, as there were no bread rolls nor hot items in the buffet at breakfast, which is poor for a 4star+ hotel. Only one of the two lifts was working during our stay and the first room we were offered (as a better one) was not ready and when we finally saw it,it was up in the attic and not at all suitable as it was very small with a very small double bed rather than the twin-bedded room we had booked.

Maybe its the World Cup rugby 2007 season, but everything was so expensive. we (Wife & me on honeymoon) paid AUD$530 per person per night. for 4 nights. Our room was on top floor.... actually the attic. picture yourself a trianglar room and thats where we spent 4 nights... the better rooms costed 850EURO/person. so that was beyond our price range.
Service: 5 stars ! upon arrival we were greeted with a bottle of champagne, and complimentry drinks vouchers to the bar, and a plate of fruit they service the room quite frequently. and all the staff & concerige there will go out of their way to help you with directions, book tours, direct you to the best restaurants ... whatever you want they will help you.
They even serve you coffee/ Tea to your rooms if you don't go down to the breakfast rooms before 8am :P
The staff also remembers your name favorite drink etc.... basically you feel like you have personalised staff tending to your every need.
Location:Excellent. ! 200 meters from the Effiel Tower, 50 meters from the underground metro, arc de triumph , and if you turn left and left again from the front door, you're basically 50 meters away from the nearest supermarket and the just 200 meters from a shopping mall with another supermarket.
there is a lougage store nearby if need an extra suitcase for all those shoppings *wink*
* * * Choose a room that is not facing the main street, because it does get very noisy ! the hotel faces Three street, the main street is Keblar or something, choose the opposite side for your room, its a lot quieter. * * *
Food : well , breakfast is ok, not as much variety as other hotels that we've been to. coffee is really good. but we didn't saw a ROACH in the toast basket one morning ..... :(
Dinner there was really bad. DON'T even attempt the Shrimp/Leek entree ! you will be seriously ill by the smell. for 260 Euro it was the worst dinner we've ever tasted. everything tasted so bad.
There is another resturant If you turn left from the hotel, its awesome. the concerige will direct you.
if you want snail, the bistro to the right of hotel offers them, the chicken there is quite good too.
Internet / business center is down stairs, but only 1 PC so quite busy.
In general we had quite a good time in paris. The hotel is quite expensive , but from what i heard unless you want to pay 800 ~ 1000 euro per night, Paris is very expensive so hotel rooms are usually very very small.
In general a really good hotel, but for your own safety avoid eating dinner there.
