Le Regent details: Le Regent hotel is the perfect place to enjoy as much as possible the Paris way of life as well as typical French cafes and restaurants. Boasting a warm atmosphere created by old stones and antique furniture, the property is a lovely 18th Century residence right in the heart of the lively district of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, close to the very famous Les Deux Magots cafe owned by the same family. Lying between the Odéon Theatre and the Seine river, it is only a 3-minute walk from Notre Dame Cathedral and not far away from the Louvre and Orsay museums. The hotel overall is a nice hotel, but I was so disappointed with my room (a standard). The bed took up almost all of the room. It really was just too small for comfort - as other reviewers have pointed out, there was hardly any room for a suitcase. Opening the closet door was a challenge! It was prettily decorated but seemed just slightly frayed around the edges. Worst of all, it was not what the hotel had led me to expect - in email correspondence they had specified a room overlooking a courtyard, which this definitely was not. So something went wrong somewhere. I got a glimpse of a much more spacious and attractive room down the corridor - another world from mine.
IBut 'm giving this hotel three stars rather than two because there were some positives. I actually liked the bathroom - although small, there were some really big storage shelves, funky tiles and a big shower. The staff were friendly and helpful. It's also situated in a very central, convenient neighbourhood with everything I needed - cafes, supermarket, drycleaners, even a fruit shop. I also didn't need to eat breakfast in the hotel - for half the price or less you can just go round the corner to cafe Paul (in rue de Seine, nice breakfast and staff, quaint decor).

After an extensive stay in Europe and after a wonderful hotel experience in Vienna we were extremely dissapointed with this hotel. I had asked to be upgraded to a larger room but because of our delayed arrival did not happen although we could have changed on the 2nd night. The room was drab, hair on the blanket, extremely small ( we had to store our luggage downstairs). Breakfast was very expensive, no one to help with bags which was a chore as the elevator was a small triangular shaped space that allowed for 1 person and 2 bags (only if the other person handed them to you.
