Plaza Etoile (Emeraude hotel) - Paris, France     

We stay 4 nights in this hotel. The location is great, in the center near to metro and RER station, two blocks away from the Arch of Triumph. Excellent base to trip Paris. The staff was very complaisant. The hotel is very small but very nice.

BEWARE: THIEVES EMPLOYED AT HOTEL We have just returned from stayng at this Hotel. A credit card was taken from the belongings in our room. Other belongings had been rifled through. Our stolen credit card was used fraudulently almost immediately. The bank informed us that $10,000 AUS of transactions had been made on the credit card in a matter of hours. £40 cash was also stolen from us. It is certainly an employee of the hotel. No doubt. There was no forced entry. Given that this has happened before and other complaints have been made the hotel have not been very hepful. In hindsight we should have been more careful and used a safe, the only thing is we were never told by staff there was a safe in the room and we never noticed it or saw any information about it in the room. It is a shame we did not read a previous reviewers comments who also had their possessions stolen from their room in this hotel. Very small hotel but otherwise OK but the ROBBERIES committed by it's staff mean it is not worth staying there. There are plenty of similar more secure hotels in the area for the same price.
