Yep, roaches. The hotel seemed clean, but when we turned on the lights at 5 am to go to the airport, what was scuttling across the floor? A big cockroach. We killed it, confirmed that it wasn't just a beetle. I'm getting the willies just writing about this.
This place was also ridiculously hard to find at night, and the concierge was not helpful when we called for directions. "Go to the town center and follow the signs to the seaside" did not work at all, and we spent about 45 minutes driving around Fiumicino looking for the place.

Friendly service, clean rooms with modern furnishings. Just two blocks from the ocean. We had an excellent dinner at the Mirage restaurant near the beach.
