This hotel is just too full of itself - they regard what they provide as exceptional, when in fact it's simply unarguably the largest and most cental place in town (since the days of communism).
It's a difficult call, because I have not had many outstanding experiences at other hotels in this city either, despite many stays. But at least other places sometimes try harder, and give better price for value (either something really special, or a much lower price). I moved to another place as soon as I could.
The good thing about this place's "monopoly" is the fact that it does feel the need to keep up its reputation. Therefore extremely bad experiences are unlikely. However, in this lovely town with lovely people, there's a good chance you'll find something better than this faint praise.
