Hotel Amiral - Nantes, France     

We booked the hotel on Venere.com and paid 70 euro for the one night we stayed there. The location couldn't have been better. The hotel is right behind the Th??tre Graslin and within walking distance of a majority of the tourist areas of Nantes. The staff were welcoming and professional. We arrived before our room was ready, but they offered to let us leave our luggage in the room while the room was being prepared. We came back after lunch and it was ready for us. While many Americans may complain that the rooms are small, the room was large enough for us and our luggage. Our room had an attached nice sized bathroom with shower. Wireless Internet is available, but you have to get a special box at the front desk into which you plug in your computer. The charge is 10 euro per box. The hotel was clean and had an overall good design.

My partner and I recently stayed at the Amiral for 3 nights when we travelled to see Wales play in the Rugby World Cup. Easy to find and ideally located in the heart of the town we found staying at the Amiral hassle free and very pleasant. The rooms were basic but very clean and we found every thing we needed worked. There were no tea/coffee facilities in the room or a hook to hold the shower head / shower screen but we found this simply added to the fun of the trip.We experienced no issues whatsoever with noise - our room was on the 3rd floor at the back - or with returning to the hotel late in the night. There was always somebody at hand to assist us. The staff speak excellent English, and are completely patient with any visitors who wish to practise their french. Don't let our rating fool you, we were very hapy with our stay and are on the waiting list for available rooms when we return to Nantes at the end of the month!
