Art Deco Romarin - Lille, France     

Stayed here with elderly father en route to and from Cologne. Near to eurostar but in residential area so little to do for someone of limited mobility. Rooms were OK with nice bathroom and tea/coffee tray available on request. However, they had run out when I asked for one for my room. Staff seemed distracted and bar service and choice was limited. Very basic breakfast and not worth the money. Nearly everything in town seemed to close on Sunday so be warned if you arrive hoping to eat in town.

Just come back from a weekend break in Lille and stayed here at the Arts Deco Romain. First things first, if your going to drive to this hotel, get great directions and check that there is going to be a parking space as they have only enough spaces for 10 cars, in fact dont drive, Lille is undergoing massive re-construction and everything is one way and you will get lost. The hotel (once we found it) is very clean the receptionist was very helpful and the room was very clean but small with a view of the car park and a rather nice patio garden of someones house. Now this hotel is being advertised as an Arts Deco all trendy etc but fancy room numbers a few pictures do not make an Art Deco hotel. that is probably one of the hotels only main faults, its hard to find fault with this place (even if the night recepitionist was not happy about pouring me a drink and the mini bar is for people on the Times rich list) for the money this place is fantastic, i have been to better sure but i've been too far worse, the room was just a bed, a window, a TV (all in french but i'm away i dont want to watch TV) and a medium size bathroom, but i'm not here to spend time in the room i here for a break. Right outside is the tram line with a stop right outside and it takes less than 4mins to get to the centre, and if you've never been to Lille before your in for a treat. one word of warning the hotel locked it doors at night so we had to bang to get in when we got home, even though the area was quiet it may be a bit rowdy later on in the year. I loved Lille and was really sad to leave, the hotel is ideal if your coming by train or car, and it is nice to be aware from all the hustle and bustle. I will be back to Lille and I am more than likely to stay here again.
