Splendid Hotel - Grenoble, France 

We spent one night in Grenoble after a skiing holiday in the alps and we had previously booked online to stay the Splendid Hotel based on its price and location in the town. The hotel room itself was relatively simple, but clean and included a television and wireless internet. The beds were clean and comfortable and we had a balcony which overlooked a garden. There also seemed to be off-street parking for those with car rental. The only negative was that the shower head holder was broken, meaning the shower was jetting water halfway down my back instead of on my head. Buffet breakfast in the morning for 6 Euros (£4) was again basic, but nice including an assortment of cakes and croissants, cereals, yoghurt's and hot drinks. What really made this hotel stand out was how friendly and helpful the staff were. From checking in and helping us navigate the town to providing guidance as to how to get online using the wireless internet, the staff were great. Stupidly we woke up to the sound of our own alarms, to find out at breakfast that the clocks had moved forward an hour due to summer time coming into effect, and this meant we had missed our transfer bus. This was our own fault as I actually noticed the clock in the reception area was an hour fast before going to bed. The young lady at the front desk was extremely helpful in finding us alternative arrangements and saved us from missing our flights and paying for a rip off taxi. Thank you very much!!! If your looking for somewhere to stay on a budget, I can easily recommend the Splendid Hotel as a very nice place to stay.

Le personnel est très sympa, les douches sont bien et il y a le wifi, mais la déco marron et orange abominable pourrait bien vous donner des boutons si vous devez passer plus d’une nuit là-bas. Si les couleurs vous laissent indifférent cet hôtel est probablement super, mais nous avons trouvé que 75 euros c’était trop pour ce qu’on a eu.
