Central La Defense - Courbevoie, France     

I booked this hotel as a package including Eurostar, and the hotel looked good from the website. But as others have mentioned it was not what the pictures may perceive. it was of the back of the Hilton Hotel next to the station. so it took us a while to actually find the hotel as that was what we looking out for; a modern architectural building. which is the last thing you want when you have been travelling all day with a suitcase. Our room was very small, just big enough to move around in. bed was uncomfortable, but our sheets where changed daily, and the room was clean! The Bathroom was newly installed, but badly designed - the toilet was halfway beneath the sink, but the shower was big enough for more than 2 people?!? Also the TV in the room had hardly any channels let alone anything watchable even if in french!! Come Breakfast time, we like to have a lie in in the morning, and breakfast was only serving till 10, so when on the website they say that you can have breakfast brought to your room, we called down at about 9 requesting breakfast to the room, and they said ' No - you have to come down for Breakfast!' So for the whole 3 mornings we were there we didnt even bother with they're provided breakfast, and we brought from the local bakery, which was actually lovely - probably better than they would have provided! As to the area, the shops/Restaurants where rarely open, so we come to france and we end up with Kebabs or Chinese!?!?! And we found the more nearer station of the overground, but could not make clear of where the trains actually went to, and the hotel was not much help (Bad English). Our last morning, we where woken rudely by reception at the door telling us we had to check out, even though we were never told what time the check out was?!? Also as mentioned before by others the walls are very thin and you can hear everything, and each night my friend said she was conviced the hotel doubled as a brothel, from the noises!!!! Certainly wouldnt recomend to anyone!!!

Having read some of the other reviews I felt that i may have made a mistake booking this hotel. However, having taken the precaution of printing out the detailed directions kindly offered by another reviewer, my partner and i found the hotel very easily. We arrived late on a Friday night...the area was quiet and secluded but not at all intimidating. Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly, room was small but clean...shower water pressure was much better than I get at home! Although it is a 10 minute walk from the metro at La Defense, metro line 1 does take you to most of the major attractions and there is a fabulous shopping centre right there. Don't listen to the knockers...we had a great 3 night stay and the price was unbeatable.
