Hotel Diderot - Chinon, France     

Hotel Diderot is a physically charming building set in a beautiful and interesting part of France. The ambiance of the hotel is warm, friendly and efficient; the almost unique preserve of the good family hotel where you are treated almost as a member of that family. Chinon is at your doorstep with a wide variety of restaurants, the picturesque river Vienne, wine tasting and, of course, the medieval Fortress Chinon, within easy walking distance. We also hired bikes and explored the excellent (and flat) bicycle tracks in the area. Breakfast at Hotel Diderot provides yogurt, goats cheese, walnuts, limitless coffee, croissants and bread, together with a wonderful variety of home made jams. It is a delightful and substantial start to your day. We enjoyed our trip to France, immensely; one of the significant highlights was our time in Chinon at the Hotel Diderot.

My husband and I love to travel in Europe. This trip was special because we had our daughter and son-in-law with us. We couldn't have stayed in a friendlier, cleaner inn with such a perfect location in the Loire River Valley! The town of Chinon was delightful too- good restaurants and shopping. The wine from this region is delicious also ! This inn is a good value for our U.S. dollar. We'll be back !
