My husband and I were quite excited about staying in Les Falaises with our 3 children one of whom was just 3 months old at the time, based on one of the reviews on Tripadvisor which described this establishment as 'A little gem in the lot valley' This gem turned out to be a fake! To begin with I had requested a cot when booking, when I arrived there was no cot in the room and nor would there have been room to put one, my baby had to sleep in her car seat for 3 nights! The decor was awful and although the rooms were quite clean they did nothing to inspire a holiday feel, in fact upon entering the room I broke down and cried, I couldn;'t believe I had made such a mistake in bringing my family to this place where we didn't even have room to store our cases and were the bed clothes were not the cleanest. The place was so bad that we decided to spend most of our time away from the 'hotel' .On one day we left the place at 9 in the morning and returned at 7.30pm, when i tried to have a shower in order to get out again, there was no hot water, my husband spoke to the hotel manager who advised us to wait a while, we did this and still nothing, the manager eventually came to our room and his excuse was that everyone in the hotel must have had a shower at the same time and we would have to wait for the water tanks to re-fill!! While he was in the room my husband told him that we had noticed a very offensive smell in the room which appeared to be coming from the fridge, he agreed that that was likely to be the case as none of the fridges in any of the rooms worked and were prone to letting off a stink! As well as this there was no kettle in the room therefore i was unable to heat my baby's bottles. Breakfast was another joke, there was not enough food to feed half the guests and as a result on one morning I had no breakfast and just a croissant the next day - 16 euro for that!! I also felt unsafe at night as the room we were in was not in the main building, the door of our room was right on a walkway and right in front of the swimming pool.
I just cannot describe in enough detail the awful time we as a family experienced while staying here, in fact it was so bad I'm not sure I want to return to France for fear of a repeat.
Please be warned!!

What a little Gem of a hotel, perfect spot on the Lot river, scenery from our room and hotel spectacular. Didin't realise there were cliffs in the middle of France.
Although the Hotel was only 2 stars, the staff and food were excellent, lovely buffet breakfast and the food in the restaurant of an evening was delicious, and not overpriced. Luckily for us the proprietor(s) / owner(s) and staff fortunately spoke a little English and understood my poor French.
Our room looked out towards the pool and restaurant (I can still taste the Duck...mmmmm wonderful). The room was adequate, but would have benefited from a fan or air conditionng, it was a very hot summer last year (2006).
The pool area was pleasant, nice bar, excellent service, pool clean and again the view was quite stunning.
The hotel is situated on the river...what more could you ask for it was a perfect place to rest and relax after a hard days sightseeing, with a good glass of wine and peace and quiet...Perfect.
If you are lucky enough to stay here get out and about and visit the local area, especially st. cirque-lapopie, The home of Quercy fois-gras, and ruputed to be the oldest medeival village in France (i think) and take a walk along the towpath. from the hotel to see the carvings on the cliffs
All in all, If we are ever in the area again, we will certainly endeavour to stay at Les Falaises if its not fully booked!!.
