Best Western Stevenage - Roebuck Inn - Stevenage, United Kingdom 

We have stayed at this hotel before and was very disappointed with it this time around. The reception desk is untidy and is in severe need of update, there are computer leads all over the place! I stayed in a superior room which I suppose was meant to be a better than the standard. The room was satisfactory but the toilet pan was stained with faeces and on my second night day the bin had not been changed and the shower head was loose. The wooden shutters were dusty. Breakfast was good but the flowers on every table were dead and the petals were falling on to our toast!!The hotel sign mispelt the word restaurant which sums up this hotel!! It's a shame that this olde worlde hotel is let down by attention to detail.

I was slightly disappointed when arriving at my hotel after a 12 hour day to find that my room was located in the very ugly modern annexe at the back of the building (not shown on the photos) which was a good five minutes walk through cold corridors. When I arrived, I was a bit put out to find a note from the management saying that my shower would not be working. I asked to be moved and was put in a much nicer room, although being a non-smoker, the musty smoke smell was a little offputting. The rooms pictured are the superior rooms, which I am sure are very nice, but don't expect the same modernity from the other rooms, which were a bit shabby and worn in. At 85.00 pernight I have stayed in a lot nicer hotels. The food was pretty basic pub fare and I missed little touches like biscuits and tolietries in the room, and I was a bit annoyed that only two channels on the TV worked so I missed my favourite programme. There were good points though. The staff were overall helpful, especially the restaurant staff and the breakfast menu and parking facilities were excellent. However, all in all, I would say that next time I will opt for a rather generic, but more comfortable, Holiday Inn or Novotel.
