I stayed here last minute after being stranded in Derby late at night thanks to problems on the railway. On entering the lobby at 1.30am, was greeted by a noisy argument between two guests, and a leacherous drunk breathing boozy breath in my face. As a single female I didn't feel comfortable and wanted to get to my room as quickly as possible. Check-in was easy and the night staff was cheerful and helpful despite the time of night and roudy guests. Hotel was possibly in the middle of refurbishment works or was just delapidated, frankly hard to tell. The lift appeared to be constructed out of plywood?! Room was an OK size, clean with some new fittings, but the building itself was noticable old and tired. The room stank of smoke. Bed was comfortable, and experienced no noise during (very short) stay. I had been told I could call down to reception to book a cab, but the number for reception was not printed anywhere in the room, and wasn't '0' or other obvious numbers, so I wasn't able to do this.

I have just come back from a visit to Derby and had the misfortune of staying at the Heritage Hotel! Firstly i will say that the hotel has seen some work done to the rooms and that they are now pleasant and clean with modern theme. However that is the only redeeming feature that I can come up with. The Rest of the hotel is very tatty and the hall ways and lifts are shabby and i can honestly say that I felt a bit unsafe there (im a 30year old 6ft+ bloke). During my stay the lifts didn't work, the room had been recently painted so still had a strong paint smell, the hallways had a very strong odour and there seemed to be open access for anybody from the street. I stayed for one night this and it felt like eternity, as mentioned below, there is a nightclub next door that is open until 4 in the morning, its so loud that it feels like your trying to sleep on the dance floor! Then when the club closes the fun starts as all the clubbers and countless other boy racers stayed outside the club and had another party! This went on until past 5 in the morning. Now i know that this isn't the hotels fault but when you have had a long day and need some sleep this doesn't paint a good picture for the hotel! I will say that this is the second time that i have been here and my first visit was unremarkable and i had no issues, however i can honestly say that i will NOT be staying here again.
