Danieli address: 17 Rue République, Avignon, 84000

Danieli details: The Danieli Hotel is situated at the heart of the 'old city', within walking distance from the Palais des Papes. It is also close to the famous 'Pont d'Avignon'.

Despite its central situation, the Danieli Hotel remains a quiet place with a relaxing and intimate environment. The hotel is also close to all the entertainment of the city: trade and shops, restaurants, terraces. A pretty decoration, a soft light and soundproofing are the assets of our rooms. Each room has a bathroom with bath/shower and toilet, satellite TV and direct telephone.

I only booked a room in this hotel because it was recommended by Rick Steves in his book. This hotel was extremely dirty, the entrance looked nice, but as soon as you left the main hailway and climbed the stairs to the room, it was dirty. The carpets are stained, the ceilings are dirty, the walls in the room are black at the bottom. The room was very expensive, 110 euros for two people. Breakfast was orange cool-aid and coffee/bathroom dirt water. We talked to other guests who were extremely unhappy with the hotel, internet is expensive, no elevator. We are very dissapointed with Rick Steves' recommendation, we will not stay at that hotel in the future.

The Danieli is an OK budget hotel in terms of room quality -- small bed (for two tall people), not all that comfortable -- but our room was clean if not well-lit. The location, however, is fantastic -- and even though it's on the main street, it's so set back behind double walls that it's quiet. The breakfast buffet was fine. The staff was helpful and friendly. Only one internet computer, but it was free.
