Stayed here last weekend for the 2nd time this year and on both occasions had a superb room at the front of the hotel. Big, roomy, clean and fresh - bed was huge and would have slept at least a couple of extra people. Tea and coffee provided and was nicely laid out. Bottle of champagne on the side for those who wanted to indulge.
Staff were very friendly and on the first occasion we stayed here we managed to get a reduction on the room of about 50 quid. Always worth asking. Ignore the rack rates - they are very open to negotiation.
Have to put a good word in for the barman working on the Saturday evening - large crowd in the bar and copious amounts of alcohol were being consumed (nothing rowdy going on though - just good conversation with like minded people) and he was extremely pleasant and charming right up to the moment we decided to retire for the night - at an ungodly 5am!
Would definately stay here again, great hotel, great central position and very friendly staff!

Booked at the last minute online, hell it said it was 4 stars and I felt like treating myself. Got to the reception was given the room key and told where the lift was with the aid of a vague pointing gesture by the receptionist. When I finally navigated the myriad of fire doors and got to the room,I was sorely disappointed. It was not at all 4 star. It was tiny, oppressive and stank of damp. I resigned myself to the fact that it was afterall a bed for the night, and that it was not going to spoil my planned evening. When I returned from my night out, I crawled into bed and realised I was freezing cold, and the noise levels were also unbearable from the bar next door. When I went down to breakfast I had rather stupidly assumed that paying the better part of ?70 for my stay included breakfast, not so. After shelling out a further ?5.50 I was treated to a thoroughly revolting breakfast, and an undrinkable coffee. Not surprisingly the entire breakfast area was largely empty. I went back to my room and spent the next hour trying not to throw up. Never will I stay there again, and I will never recommend it to anyone. Wished I had looked at this site before booking.
