Location

The area of Sa Coma was born as a centre for tourists in the decade of the 1980’s with the building of the first hotels, apartments and second residencies.
Since then and to the present day the area has continued to grow but in a controlled manner, respecting the green belt and the areas of special and officially protected natural interest while still offering areas for recreation and leisure.

I travelled myself with a 7yr old and a 9yr, I chose the hotel as it said in the broucher ideal for kids and the thomson run kids club looked good. Arrived at 1am no porter available to help with bags being a 4 star platinum hotel felt bit let down having to struggle to the room with bags and two sleepy kids in toe. Room was rubbish old fashioned is an understatement'' we swaped rooms to be nearer the pool as it was to far round the otherside of the hotel... The rep was just new so didnt have a clue about anything and at the welcome meeting she looked blitz or druged up from the night before. The trips didnt look that exciting but the rep made no attempted to selling anything, The hotel is in a complex of 3 hotels centered around a club house.. This was not made clear from the broucher.. Our hotel was by far the nicer the other 1 was called safari park' it was like Butlins in the sun packed with people of all nationalities' GOD AWFULL reminded me of the tv porogram Benedorim.. As it turns out our hotel didnt have a thomson kids club you had to go to the safari park leave them there and return later>>> I would never leave my kids in a different hotel so we opted not to use it.. also the mini golf etc were based away from the hotel, and anything you wanted to do you had to book at the club house which was 10min walk away in 90 degree heat it was the last thing we wanted to do. The broucher is totally misleading it said choice of 4 resturants which I asumed was based in our hotel but NO there was only 1 buffet at the hotel and if you wanted to dine in the other hotels you had to go to the club house to book'' we were only there a week and we could not get booked in the other returants as they were all fully booked. We went half board everyone staying at sfari park seemed to be al-inclusive. we booked and went to the waterpark wich was rubbish 2 slides thats it 40euros for 3!! had lunch inc and jucies but after 20 mins the kids were fed up.. The entertainment was of they had 1 live bad who were outstanding and the food was reasonable for a buffet. WOULD UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES GO BACK TO THIS HOTEL OR RESORT. we paid 1900 for a week half board which for what you got was shocking. This is a 3 Star def not 4.... Some of the staff were nice reception and bar staff excellent in fact..

We have just returned from the Sa Coma Playa hotel, booked with Thomson’s on a last minute deal. Having paid only about half the brochure price we were absolutely delighted with the holiday. Food: Not usually fans of buffet food this was particularly good with a very large and varying selection every night. Breakfast was an immense selection and even included champagne if you were so inclined. Rooms: Always clean and tidy with quiet and efficient A/C. Extra pillows and blankets available. 2Euros a day for the use of the room safe and the mini bar was too small to put your own drinks in. Nice balcony, mostly with views over one pool or another and some with rural views or towards other 4/5 star hotels adjacent. Pools: In June the water was still quite cool this year as was the sea with the summer still not having fully arrived. Plenty of sun beds for the Germans to put their towels on still some left over. I should say that I think the hotel along with most others was far from full and with school still in, the only children about were the under fives. Not being particular sun worshipers the best part for us were all the sporting activities available free from the sports club for hotel guests. Plenty of tennis courts and free cycle hire kept us busy but there were many more activities such as mini golf, football, scuba introduction and lots more organised by friendly staff. We could also use the BioMar health spar next to the hotel with a great thermal pool, saunas, steam room, ice room etc.. We went once for free having booked it through the sports club and I think we could have gone every day but I’m not sure. Information from our rep was a bit sketchy and sometimes wrong. Over all we really enjoyed the holiday. Sa Coma beach and adjacent Cala Millor are lovely sandy beaches with some rocky parts to add interest. The towns are all modern with little character but largely smart and clean if overrun by seaside tat. There is the nature reserve and fort on the land between the two resort areas with nice walks and horses running wild. We didn’t hire a car having explored much of Majorca in the past. We did take the bus, 13 euros return, to Palma one day, which we enjoyed. Try and get the express, which takes about one hour unless you want to spend 2 hour stopping everywhere.
