We have just returned from a weekend break, staying in the Hotel De Castiglione in Paris. The rooms were basic at best and I was very disappointed by the hotel's lack of customer care!
We turned up for breakfast at 10.15am on the second morning of our stay and was shown to a table by a very hustled stressy waitress. At no point was the fact that it was 10.15am and breakfast finished at 10.30am pointed out to us, and the waitress was happy to accept our 100 Euros for the five of us to eat in their restaurant.
The breakfast had clearly finished and there were no rolls left, only dried up bread. The waiter eventually bought out some hard rolls, which he obviously felt was very inconvenient. The hot water for the tea was warm, not hot and there was no orange juice. Again, eventually some watered down orange juice was produced under duress. The croissants were very hard and dried up and the milk for the cereal luke warm and very unpleasant. The scrambled egg had obviously been sitting there for ages and was very runny. There was no fruit left and when asked we were briskly told there was no more available.
People all over the restaurant were unhappy and just told to wait if they dare ask for anything. One lady was waiting the whole time we were in the restaurant for hot chocolate for her children. It never did appear!
We told the staff how unhappy we were and they obviously couldn't care less. We then told the reception and he told up to write out a complaint. The next moment, we were confronted with the waiting staff who decided to argue with us about the experience, telling us we were liars.
At no time did any one offer us an apology and repeatedly could not care less. There is obviously no customer care amongst the hotel's catering staff and the experience really spoiled our last day in Paris.
I e-mailed the hotel on our return and I am yet to receive a reply.
I would rate this hotel 2/3 stars, at 5 star prices.

My travel agent recommended this hotel. This would not be rated 4 stars in the US. The room was clean, bathroom was clean, staff was cordial, everything was in working order. The mattress was lumpy and hard, cannot recommend the beds. Linens were clean and changed every day. The hotel needs to be remodeled, everything was old and a bit shabby. But maybe they don't want to spend the money, since the location is fabulous, and they know it. We walked to everything we wanted to see, the Eiffel Tower, Arch de Triumph, Louvre, Notre Dame, metro station, great shopping. There were not many restaurants in the vicinity, a little cafe nearby would have been nice. Instead we paid the 20 Euros for breakfast, the most expensive breakfast we ever had. Next time I will look for another hotel in the same general area.
