The hotel is situated in "Pleno Camino de Santiago", in the ancient route (Camino Frances), near Sarria (Lugo), it is a place of exceptional natural beauty, surrounded by gardens and close to the river, which has the same name as the village. It is also centrally located, a few meters from the main city's monuments, following "Ruta del Romanico". In the ancient part of the city, you can find a road dedicated to local antiquaries and craftsmen. If you simply prefer to enjoy nature, you can stroll around pedestrian routes or horse ride through the leafy centenarian woods, full of autochthon vegetation, typical of the area.

My friend and I spent two nights at the Alfonso IX while walking on the Camino. It is really a great option for a good nights sleep and hot shower for tired and aching bodies. The hotel is a close walk to the center of town, has a nice little bar, a good breakfast buffet, and the front desk staff are helpful and friendly, but with very limited English if your spanish is lacking.
