We stayed over a Friday/Saturday due to a wedding elsewhere in Buckingham. We weren't expecting much, as we did not intend to spend much time in the hotel, but I was still disappointed.
Arriving the Friday afternoon and being unfamiliar with Buckingham we decided to eat in the hotel restaurant. We waited over an hour for our main course (I had a challenging dish; steak and chips) and when it arrived it was distinctly average. Our side dishes either didn't arrive or arrived too late. Apparently, this was due to there being only one chef, but bizarrely there were several waiters/waitresses standing around (or apologising to other guests for the wait).
Our room was okay, clean and reasonably spacious. The TV for some reason didn't show Five (no real loss, but a bit odd) However, the bathroom apparently missed out on the renovation and had an 80s feel. Worse the shower unit was clearly broken (water leaked out of the base). This must have been a longstanding problem and could not have suddenly happened. A complaint to reception did not seem to result in anyone coming to fix it whilst we attended the wedding on the Saturday afternoon. At no point was an explanation or apology offered.
One last minor point, we asked the hotel to arrange a taxi to the wedding venue which they duly did. However, after waiting 15 minutes we managed to flag down a taxi outside. A further 5-10 minutes later the hotel phoned to tell me the taxi had arrived! I'd like to think that the hotel will at least think twice about using such an unreliable taxi firm again, but I doubt it.
Overall, just a bit sub standard, there must be better places in Buckingham

Stayed at this hotel prior to a business meeting. Paid ?56 B&B for a deluxe room - seemed excelent value.
The room was very large, which must be why it was referred to as deluxe. Their was complimentary fruit and water in the room, plus a small box of chocolates - a nice little touch. However the furniture was very dated and I could not believe the bed. My bed was actually of the fold out wardrobe variety. I assume the room could be used for meeting etc, and the bed could be folded away. However due to this, it was very uncomfortably and did not allow for a great nights sleep. Not what I would expect from a deluxe room, or any hotel room for that matter.
Food was fine. A nice carvery in the evening, and a decent choice for breakfast in the morning.
Overall, OK but could do better - new bedroom furniture in it's deluxe room would be a good start!
