Park Plaza Suites Hotel - Marbella, Spain 

I first stayed in these apartments two years ago and was overall very pleased with the apartments but they were looking a little tired! When friends wanted to visit Puerto Banus and wanted a central location I recommended staying here but with reservations about the furnishings. I need not have worried. We had a three bed sea view apartment which was fantasic, very clean, enormous and the furnishings had been updated to a good standard. The location is excellent though can be a bit noisy with late night revellers winding their way home but if you can't beat them - join them! This was my 9th visit to Puerto Banus and will be going back again and would definitely stay at these apartments again as would all my friends!

Friends have been going back to this place for a few years running but I think this may well have been the last visit. The location is fantastic, right on the beach and extremely close to the marina, bars and restaurants. The entrance and lobby is misleading - smart, clean and modern - nothing like the apartment we stayed in. Although huge and spacious, the decor wasn't very pleasant, no a/c but we devised our own - every single window/door open creating a much needed breeze throughout the apartment. Furniture was vile but I have to say, it seems that these apartments are mainly used for hen/stag weekends so you couldn't really blame them for not kitting it out too plushly. We had 3 bedrooms, decent sized, beds were either like dough or like sleeping on a wooden board - horrific but not noticed in a drunken coma until a day or two after when your back is killing you. The kitchen was basically equipped. The bathrooms left a bit to be desired, the shower was awful and took us a couple of days to learn how not to flood the whole room. I HATE shower curtains and they weren't very nice. I possibly would go back as these apartments are used as a base only so as long as the sheets are clean, which they were, and there's a fridge that works, you're out most of the time so it doesn't matter too much. Definitely NOT for couples or families, you would hate it, best for 'fun' weekends away only. If they could sort the a/c out, decent beds and the showers that work properly it would be GREAT!! Issues with Puerto Banus in general - why so may italian restaurants?! Didn't see a tapas bar upon my travels, albeit limited, we seemed to live off pizza and pasta! Also, the nightlife, seemed to be from one extreme to the other - Pangea and the like on one end of the scale and then Linekers along 'tacky alley' on the other. Both great in small doses but didn't seem to be any middle ground type places.
