Albergo La Certosa details: Set within an ancient monastery dating from the 15th-century, the hotel is harmoniously situated between the beach of a picturesque bay and a green park of Mediterranean flavours.

For those of you who wish to discover the beautiful surroundings of Marina del Cantone, the pedestrian paths to Punta Campanella park and the Leranto Bay start in Nerano, the area behind Marina; buses for Massa Lubrense and Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi leave the square in Marina del Cantone, just 50 metres from the hotel.

The hotel was recently renovated; however the original structure of the monastery was maintained. It is characterised by 2 large arches on the facade and original windows on the upper floor.

The sea is just a few metres away and gives a friendly, Mediterranean air to Certosa. The common areas, with ancient barrel vaults, exposed beams and colorful ceramics all overlook the sea.

The Hotel Certosa offers beach amenities and is happy to arrange boat rentals and boat tours to Capri, Positano, Sorrento, Pompeii and many other places of interest in this historical and beautiful part of Italy.

Location

The hotel is situated on the beach in Marina del Cantone, one of the most beautiful bays in the Sorrento peninsula, behind Punta Campanella, in the heart of the natural marine reserve of the same name. With uncontaminated beauty, the reserve offers lots of land and sea routes to allow you to discover various sites full of history, legends and culture. Many paths cross the most evocative areas of the reserve and arrive to the crystal clear bays and near extremely interesting archaeological sites containing the remains of villas that once belonged to Roman nobles, since many Romans chose the beautiful scenery around Punta Campenella as their summer residence. Such as Villa Pollio, on the Sorrento slope of the Punta, the so-called Regina Giovanna Baths, which is full of natural swimming pools; the remains are of rare magnificence and the view of the Gulf of Sorrento is extraordinary.

The historic centre of Massa Lubrense is 10 km away, while Sorrento is 16 km, with the splendid Positano and Amalfi 34 and 40 km respectively. Ercolano and Pompeii are 40 km away, for those of you interested in the excavations.

La Certosa was a treat. It is on a small cove just outside of Sorrento. You can easily take a boat to Capri from there too. The rooms were great. We had a lovely balcony literally over the beach and the pier. The sunsets were amazing. Alfonso and his family were very friendly and took care of us. The food was great and my capuccino in the morning was fantastic. I would go back in a heartbeat.

We loved this wonderful hotel located right on the water. It is place to stay to relax and enjoy the water and scenery. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by Alfonso. They carried our luggage up to our rooms. The rooms were spacious and the bathrooms were great. Our balcony was wonderful to watch the sun shimmer off the water. The breakfast, lunch and dinner were outstanding. We received much help in chartering a private boat to Capri, train tickets and a taxi the day we left. We were made to feel like family and enjoyed the amazing attention we received. We highly recommed this hotel if you are looking for a relaxing time.
