5Hello all,
I'm a little fussy when it comes to staying at hotels if u read my past reviews, but i do stay in plenty. but the Novotel Madrid Puente De La Paz is............ whats the word....... thats it WOW.
From first arriving it looked so beautiful on the outside, then i decided to brave check-in.
I arrived at the desk and Was welcomed, checked in without fuss, very polite Receptionist called Sofia. i have this thing where anyone i speak too i give them my name and take their name, i asked Sofia about my room as i like to have a nice one, i was informed that it was totally refurbished 2 years ago, i went to my room 216. walked in and again, WOW. it was beautiful, i dived in to the bathroom cos im sad and love hotel showers, ha ha ha it was a massive walk in shower, huge shower head, all new.
checked out the bed.... a massive plus so comfy, plenty of pillows, huge bed,
mini-bar all items 3 Euros. everything in the hotel had the
vat / Iva already included so there are no nasty surpises at checkout. although they didnt charge me for using the mini bar on checkout. he just ripped it up and said, "its no problem" always a bonus !!!
my room looked out onto the dual carriage way but couldnt hear any noise.
Down to the hotel bar to checkout the items and service, also to introduce myself. always bodes well as u get extra spirits, i hate rude obnoxious people, i hear them trying to explain their drinks in English by SHOUTING to the bar staff, i dont know how they feel but i feel ashamed. nice drinks at bar, reasonable prices. small beer 3 euros, large beer 5 euros, bacardi and coke 9 euros etc...... small food choice but good value. FRESH nuts olives and pickles served with every drink, never recycled to another customer.
It is billed as a family hotel, and behind the bar there is a childrens play area, and i encountered a few screaming children having a good time, i was also lucky enough to encounter a spanish wedding reception, wow nothing like the english ones, everyone was so happy, so well turned out, and hardly drinking, so beautiful.
to get to Gran Via by metro, take the metro Parque de la Avenida to Pueblo Nuevo (2 Stops), then change to line 5 for 6 stops i think into Gran Via. takes about 30 mins.
there is a bus stop out side hotel also takes 30 mins to Puerto del Sol.
if your planning on using the buses metros a few times, u can buy travel cards, i bought a 2 day one for 7.20 euros and it covers you to the airport without paying the 1e supplement.
IF u do come to madrid, please stay at the Novotel puente de la paz, im sure you wont be sorry. excellent value hotel not too far from City.
Happy Travels.
Preston.,
