"Great location, nice staff, reasonable price but go soon....."Posted: Mon, Nov 23 2009Value:
3I can't say enough good things about the 2 nights we just spent here June 8/9 at the end of our trip to Spain. I had booked direct with the hotel (who guarantee to give the best online rate) and requested a non smoking room with a king size bed with little expectation of actually getting that.
Our room was pretty big, on the 4th floor (a non smoking floor) and overlooked the beautiful Plaza Santa Ana, which IS a bustling place with many bars and restaurants - a great, central location. I am a notoriously light sleeper, but all through Spain I used earplugs (purchased in Barcelona at a farmacia - brand name is No Ton). It *is* noisy in most urban settings in Spain at night because people do eat and stay out late. But these did the trick for me, and I had no problems sleeping.
Bed was extremely comfortable, and the room, bathroom extremely well furnished. As reported by other visitors, the breakfast buffet (which was included in the 120 Euro room rate I paid) was easily the best of any place we stayed throughout our trip.
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful across the board, especially Monica at the front desk who patiently and in perfect English helped us to find a location to return our rental car, and get gas, amongst other things.
On checkout we mentioned to the front desk staff how much we had enjoyed our brief stay and were devastated when they said the hotel was closing... but only temporarily for a refurbishment. So if you want to go here, do it before November or wait a year after that and see what they do to the place. In my opinion it doesn't need any major overhaul but I am sure Tryp knows what they are doing.
