"So Spanish..."Posted: Mon, Nov 23 2009Value:
3We stayed at the Asturias as the first hotel of our honeymoon. We had been delayed due to a lost passport at a connection airport- the hotel staff was wonderful about changing our reservation. This hotel is listed as a 2-star, but I enjoyed it more than some of the nicer-quality hotels that I stayed at later on the same trip. It's a great central location- you can walk to so much- a plaza with restaurants & bars, the Prado plus a self-service laundromat and Internet points. The subway has great connnections to the airport, trains stations, and basically everywhere you would want to go. The room screams "Spanish"- I love the tiled floor, it's so appropriate for a warm climate. The window overlooks a bustling street, which makes you feel connected to the city around you. If you want luxury, this is not it. It is basic, local style- for me it added a lot to my Spanish experience. The only negative was that we were required to purchase breakfast, but unable to eat it some days, because we it wasn't served early enough to catch our trains.
