This hotel exceeded my expectations. Stayed on two seperate ocassions for a total of 8 nights. For business, it is ideally located in the Paseo de las Castellana. If you are travelling for tourism, you are not too far either, since Madrid's center is ver compact. This is one of the safest districts to stay in Madrid, as the Gran Via and Plaza de Espana areas are plagued with pick-pocketers and prostitution. Rooms are brand-spanking new and funcitonal, although like in most Madrid hotels, don't come here looking for a view, since most rooms face a courtyard that is not much to speak about. Bulgari toiletries provided, and the service is very good (room service, valets, housekeeping, concierge), as the hotel is one of the Leading Hotels of the World group, an association which has rigorous standards as far as service. The lobby is impressive for a Madrid hotel, yet the traffic flow in and out of the hotel is like that of a boutique hotel. Restaurant is overpriced and not great, but there are plenty of good restaurants and cafes in the area. I would venture to say that this is the best hotel in Madrid and probably will be for a couple of years.

It is a shame that this five stars hotel does not provide wireless internet access to iphone customers. The purpose of an iphone is to have personal, immediate, and direct internet access for active young people. Now a days there is no need to be hooked up to a computer to get instant messaging and access to the rest of the world! No charge should be imposed upon customers willing to pay for a five stars hotel. We were in a three stars hotel in Granada just the weekend before and they even had wireless internet access and for free!! Otherwise, the bedding of this hotel is the best thing they have.

Excellent Service

I've recently stayed for 3 nights at the Hesperia Madrid. It was a great surprise the excellent service in all aspects. The staff is very attentive, the rooms are very confortable and well appointed. The bathrooms are in marble and the amenities are Bvlgari. They provide free wi-fi internet access to all guests. The only negative point is the location. If you are going on business, ok. But if yu are going for sightseeing, be aware that you'll end up using a lot of taxi or subway, because almost all major attractions aren't close by.

Over-Rated and Over Priced

Hotel Hesperia Madrid was a huge disappointment! And completely over-priced. We stayed two nights. Our room was small and hot. No fan or air-conditioning. We had to sleep with the window open only to be awoken by cooing birds early morning. There is no spa. It does have a limited gym with a nice view. The breakfast was horrible and certainly not worth the $22 euros per-person. The breakfast consist of a poor selection of traditional Spanish food with American "dishes" such as donut holes! Many of the main dishes were gone quickly and never replaced. We cancelled the our breakfast reservation for the second morning. They were completely under-staffed. The wait at the front desk was almost half an hour. Room service was fine and our meal was great. On arrival, the desk in the room was covered with honey (I don't understand, either!). Lot's of inconsistencies. Certainly not worth the $225 euros a night we paid.
