NH Zurbano - Madrid, Spain

I've just come back from a 3-day trip to Madrid. I only stayed at the NH Zurbano for the last night, but I was very impressed by this hotel. Room was simple, yet very functional and pleasantly decorated, wi-fi internet available in the room as is the rule with NH nowadays. Not the most central but you can quickly get to just about anywhere in Madrid relatively fast from the Zurbano. It is 50 metres from Plaza Gregorio Marañon (with a Metro station that bears the same name), which itself is on the Paseo de Castellana, Madrid's main avenue, which spans from Plaza Cibeles, off the Prado, all the way to the Santiago Bernabeu and beyond, and is served by an extensive bus network. Just the one hiccup regarding this hotel, breakfast was mentioned as starting at 7.30 on weekends but when I got up on Saturday morning they were still preparing it at 7.40 - as it happened, it would only start at 8. Probably mattered little to the vast majority of guests, but not to me as I had to be at Villaviciosa de Odón, which is on the outskirts, about 25 kms away, at 9 am. Staff is courteous, surrounding area quiet and at 60 Euros per night plus VAT (w/o breakfast) this was an absolute gem!

Good Hotel and good room price, only breakfast is quite expansive (15 euros). Closed to the metrò.

I stayed at the NH Zurbano Hotel while I attended a nearby conference. The room was small but very adequate for my needs. It was clean and comfortable. There was a small, programmable safe in the room, which was much appreciated. Breakfast was included with my room, and was always fresh and delicious. The buffet has many cold items such as cereal and milk (they had soy milk!), fruit, coffee, toast with preserves, sliced meat, sweets such as donuts, many different fruit juices, and yogurts. If you wanted, you could order hot items for no extra charge. The room was always cleaned promptly and carefully, although some mornings the cleaning staff was rather early! the only downside to this hotel was that the walls were quite thin so it was very easy to hear other guests in surrounding rooms. The staff was excellent. Always prompt, helpful, and courteous. I would stay here again.
