"Very good hotel, excellent value for money !"Posted: Mon, Nov 23 2009Value:
3I've just come back from a 3-day trip to Madrid. I only stayed at the NH Zurbano for the last night, but I was very impressed by this hotel. Room was simple, yet very functional and pleasantly decorated, wi-fi internet available in the room as is the rule with NH nowadays.
Not the most central but you can quickly get to just about anywhere in Madrid relatively fast from the Zurbano. It is 50 metres from Plaza Gregorio Marañon (with a Metro station that bears the same name), which itself is on the Paseo de Castellana, Madrid's main avenue, which spans from Plaza Cibeles, off the Prado, all the way to the Santiago Bernabeu and beyond, and is served by an extensive bus network.
Just the one hiccup regarding this hotel, breakfast was mentioned as starting at 7.30 on weekends but when I got up on Saturday morning they were still preparing it at 7.40 - as it happened, it would only start at 8. Probably mattered little to the vast majority of guests, but not to me as I had to be at Villaviciosa de Odón, which is on the outskirts, about 25 kms away, at 9 am.
Staff is courteous, surrounding area quiet and at 60 Euros per night plus VAT (w/o breakfast) this was an absolute gem!
