3We stayed in a room on the first floor, which even by the wildest stretch of a magnanimous imagination cannot be described as a 4-star accomodation - even a 3 star rating would seem rather charitable. It felt cheap and bland in every respect. Towards the end of our stay it became clear that the hotel management considers only the hotel's upper floors to be of 4-star caliber, with the two lower floors falling under some unclear status, pending renovation work ( a fact which, to be fair to them, was also reflected upon the reduced price. )
The hotel just feels so very basic, geared mostly towards large group accomodation and tourists on short stays with much to do outside the hotel itself - there aren't many facilities or restaurant/bar options to make someone excited with the prospect of staying much indoors. That did not bother us since we fitted perfectly into the second category ; but what was clearly unacceptable was the noise penetrating into our room at night, coming from all kinds of obvious and other more mysterious sources. The lobby was also quite noisy ( or lively according to one's point of view ) given the large tourist groups that were hunging there mostly in the evening.
The location is very good for those wishing close proximity to Salamanca and easy access to the city centre. The staff was pleasant and helpfull.
