Call from the airport and they send a free shuttle to pick you up. The hotel is quite large. Rooms are very spacious. Bathroom was immaculate. Not cheap, but huge breakfast was included with the fee. If you have to stay near the airport, this is a wonderful place. (I was there in May, 2005.)

The hotel needs to cater better for buggies and wheelchairs, especially at the restaurant. Hand rails are also needed. In the garden, a small play area for children would be a good idea. Regarding venere, the website should verify ages of children. I couldn't enter a room for 4 people, even though I only needed a cot! Also in the last year we stayed in a hotel in Italy on arrival, and again on departure in order to be close to the airport. We chose the same option in Spain last week. The venere website should allow this facility, rather than only accepting consecutive dates to book a hotel.

We stayed one night at the Melia Barajas "courtesy" of Iberia Airlines which totally bungled our flight out of Madrid back to the US. It is clear that the majority of guests there that night were also there for similar reasons. There was a dinner buffet which had wine and bottled water provided-the food was alright. The breakfast buffet was also OK. The room was big, and had a real king bed which was a luxury. The bath was nice also, and the room was very clean and attractive. Although we weren't pleased with having to stay overnight due to Iberia's snafu, we managed to have a good nights rest at Melia. This hotel is very conveniently located close to the airport. The shuttle took a long time to arrive both from and back to the airport. I recommend taking a cab to/from rather than the shuttle if time is important.
