5This was my 1st trip to Spain. I took the Metro from Barrajas (not recommended if you have several items of luggage) and easily found the hotel, right off Gran Via, with a large, hard-to-miss sign. It is 2 to 3 blocks from 2 major Metro stops...Gran Via and Callao. Gran Via stop is on the #1 route directly from Atocha Station to Chamartin Station, perfect for day-trips by train.
The hotel is in walking distance of the Prado Museum/Retiro Park and the Palacio Real, as well as Puerta del Sol (lots of construction there) and Plaza Mayor.
The breakfast buffet has a variety of offerings: scrambled eggs, pastries, cheese and meats, etc. The lounge serves sandwiches etc in the evening, and has a big-screen TV for sporting events, etc.
Internet access is 10 euros/24 hours. One day, I could not get it to work. The desk staff was helpful, but could not get it to work either, and I was not charged.
Next door to the hotel is a flamenco club, Torrres de Berjema, which is well-regarded, and put on a good show. The hotel staff recommended the show only, as their opinion was dinner was a bit too pricey.
I would definitely stay here again.
