Samba - Lloret de Mar, Spain 

After reading some of the reviews on here we were dreading our stay at the samba (thanks for killing our pre-hol excitement!)...all I can say is that the complaints are completely unfounded. the Hotel is located a 2 min walk from lloret centre (up a hill admittedly) it is fairly old but clean and well decorated inside. The staff were very efficient and helpful, the room was big enough and had a bath/shower and a balcony overlooking the pool. the food was good, not great but way better than i expected for an all inclusive and varied each night but with a few standard things to keep the burger & chips addicts happy. there was even a good selection of fresh fruit. the all inclusive drinks are served in nice opaque plastic tumblers, the kind youd have at a nice bbq, not some disposable crappy things. this is perfectly understandable, no one wants broken glass around the pool or anywhere else when people are walking around bare-foot or in flip-flops. theres a choice of different beers (inc. stella) red,white or rose wine, spirits, pepsi/7up/fanta, mineral water, sangria etc. and you can have 2 drinks each per trip to the bar which stops people takin the mick and keeps the qeues down to one or two people max. the entertainment was a bit basic, with local bands, quizzes, kareoke and kids shows but its fine to keep you occupied while you have a drink, or you can go inside where there are arcade machines, pool tables and air hockey. lloret is full of 18-30s as youd expect so theres loads to do, but equally get a bus/car up the coast or down to barcelona and its a world away. the only downside of our holiday was that our bag got stolen from the hotel when we were waiting for the transfer bus - not the hotels fault, but as when you go anywhere, keep an eye on your stuff! all in all a great holiday at a bargain basement price-highly recommended. take it for what it is and you'll have a great time.

First of all, we went to the hotel for 3 nights AI in February - not high season so bear that in mind when reading the review! I didn't have any problems during my stay - food and drinks were fine, room was clean etc. We didn't actually spend much time in the hotel as we were there for just the 3 nights and used it as a base to go off and look around the local area and to visit barcelona. Entertainment was pretty none-existent apart from somebody playing the piano, but as mentioned before thats probably due to the time of year we went! Mini arcade within hotel, good for if kids have a bit of money burning a hole in their pocket and want something to keep them occupied for a short while! Had a good time during our stay - not entirely sure I would want to spend a whole 2 week holiday here but then again I haven't stayed during the Summer time so I guess I can't say for sure without having tried it!
